Our regularly scheduled Fridgay Night Magic Events start at 6:30.
Our regular formats:
Booster Draft - A booster draft is where each player will recieve three packs of the chosen set and sit down in a circle with other players. They will each open one pack from their pool and pick a card that they would like to put into the deck for the night (Remember to take out any non-foil basic land and any tokens or hint cards), then pass it to the left. The person to their right will pass theirs to you, and then you will pick a card from theirs. This continues around the table (possibly multiple times) until all the cards from the pack have been taken. The players then open their second pack, proceed much the same but the direction will be to the right. The final pack will be passed back to the left. Once this is done, players look at the cards they picked and make a minimum 40 card deck. Don't worry about basic lands. We've got you covered! We just ask that when you're done with the basic lands, please return them so that we can use them for other events. Entry fee is $20.00 (for regular set drafts) and starts promptly at 6:30. Swiss Prizing.
Standard - Standard is a constructed format. You create a minimum 60 card deck referencing any in-effect banned lists, and legal standard sets (Current Standard sets are: Battle for Zendikar, Oath of the Gatewatch, Kaladesh, Aether Revolt) - any cards that have been previously printed, but have been re-printed in any standard set (minus banned cards) are still playable in a standard tournament. Free entry, top two receive promos, plus 3 others will receive a promo as a door-prize. Must have a minimum of 8 players for a Standard FNM to fire.
Commander/EDH - To build a deck, you first choose a legendary creature, called a “commander” or “general,” then construct a Singleton deck around it containing exactly 99 other cards. Only cards of the commander’s color(s) and colorless cards may be included in the deck. (Note that split cards and hybrid cards count as all of their colors.) In fact, if a card contains a mana symbol anywhere on it that’s not one of your commander’s colors, you can’t include it in that deck!
Appropriately enough for a format named after the legendary creature that’s leading your team, your commander works differently from other cards in the game. Before the game begins, each player removes his or her commander from the game. You may play your commander from the command zone (no matter how it got there) for its normal costs plus an additional {2} for each previous time it has been played this way. If your commander would go to the graveyard or the exile zone from anywhere, you may put it into the command zone instead. In addition to the normal Magic loss conditions, if a player is dealt 21 points of combat damage from a single commander over the course of the game, that player loses the game!
This is a casual format wher each table of 4+ players will have a chance between them to randomly receive a promo.
The way promos will be handed out will depend on the number of participants.
