Top Most Popular Mobile Games

Top Most Popular Mobile Games

Smartphones and tablets as popular gaming platforms have already left the PC far behind and pushed the console off the pedestal. Of course, such a vast segment of the market is not homogeneous, there are many genres and each of them has its own fans. What are the most popular mobile games?

MOBA

A find for fans of online battles with live opponents

Gambling games

The opportunity to visit the casino without leaving your favorite couch

Battle Royale

Online survival shooters

Augmented reality games

The possibility to combine mobile gaming with real-world activity

Puzzles

Simple way to kill time

Let's discuss each genre in order of increasing popularity.

Puzzles

This hypercasual genre opens our top. It doesn't require any special skills or deep immersion from the player. It is not surprising that one of the first commercially successful computer games was the legendary Tetris, and the most downloaded game on mobile platforms was Angry Birds for a long time. Now the success is enjoyed by imitations inspired by the former hits, as well as variations of the mechanics featuring three in a row and various quests.

Augmented Reality Games

Pokemon Go

Not so long ago (in 2016) this genre was elevated to the top of popularity by the mega-hit Pokemon Go. Although now only memories are left of its former popularity, the genre is still firmly in the top five.

The main trick is that the game takes place simultaneously in a mobile application and the real world. That is, to succeed, it is not enough to be diligent by tapping on the screen. It is necessary to move quite actively around the physical environment in search of items (in this case, pokémon) and locations (PokeStop).

Thanks to the unique mechanics, the social component has reached a new level because it is now necessary to interact with the players not only on the Internet but also in the most direct way - in person. Thundering success could not fail to bring to life a lot of imitations. By the way, none of them managed to repeat the success of the original. Many people mistakenly attribute MMORTS with elements of augmented reality Ingress to plagiarism. In fact, the game was released three years earlier, in 2013. However, to be fair, the real success of Ingress came on the wave of interest in AR technology, caused by the sensation created by Pokemon Go.

Battle Royale

The name of the genre, rounding the top three, as well as the basis of the mechanics, was given to the world by a Japanese feature film in 2000, although the real success was achieved by Battle Royale only in 2017 with the release of the game PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds), which set the standards of the genre, namely

  • Large Open World;
  • A random starting set of equipment;
  • A constantly shrinking safety zone, forcing players into increasingly close contact;
  • The only winner of the session.

Of course, players are not forbidden to enter into temporary alliances in order to knock the stronger enemy out of the game but you should always remember that in the end, only one will survive.

Gambling Games

Gambling Games

Mobile gambling games represent a real casino in your home as well as in transport, on a walk, and even at work. The main thing is to have a Wi-Fi access point or mobile Internet coverage. Moreover, a large flow of traffic is not needed, these games are adapted to the minimum requirements in terms of both Internet speed and hardware. Most often you don't even need to install an application - enjoy the game directly in your browser.

This genre, in turn, is divided into a huge number of sub-genres, the most popular of which are:

  • Slots - virtual versions of the well-known "one-armed bandits";
  • Cards - electronic battles at card tables based on the rules of the most famous games, such as poker, baccarat, blackjack, and others;
  • Roulettes - American and European versions.

The most common entertainment products are, of course, slots - they represent an average of 70 percent or more of all games in online casinos, and in many portals even more. It is not uncommon to find gaming clubs that feature slots exclusively. Of course, modern slot machines are very different from their mechanical and electromechanical ancestors. Modern slot machines delight players with all the new mechanics, bonuses, and mini-games.

Card games are divided into virtual tables for multiple live players and computer machines for single-player games. The former are offered by so-called poker rooms, which can be part of an online casino or represent a separate establishment. The most famous poker rooms cooperate with the famous world series. The recognized champions give lessons and master classes here.

The latter are characterized by simpler rules. It is not difficult to master them even for beginners. You do not have to work years to grind your skills to win here. The minimum skills and a bit of luck are enough. In any case, it is better to try your hand first playing on a demo account. Of course, it is impossible to win real money that way but saving your bankroll is already a victory.

Baccarat deserves a special mention: in this game, you can play against the dealer, as well as bet money on the outcome of someone else's game against the casino.

Roulette is a classic risk game that many people associate with casinos in the first place. Visitors to land-based casinos are attracted not only to the gameplay (admittedly - very simple) but also to the social aspect of roulette. This game does not require deep dive, and visitors can freely communicate while watching the adventures of the ball on the wheel. The developers of the virtual version have taken this aspect into account: as a rule, gamblers who choose roulette can communicate in chat via voice and even video messages! And if you look at the live room, you can play with a live dealer, who is often a professional dealer of a famous casino.

MOBA

And finally the tip of our top - Multiplayer online battle arena. This is a kind of symbiosis of the genres of strategy and RPG, where live players are fighting on a single battlefield. In contrast to Battle Royale, MOBA is always a team game where success depends on coherence and chemistry.

The playing field is always arranged to provide equal starting conditions for each side, and units of players are fully balanced. Compliance with these conditions has allowed MOBA games to become a full-fledged part of cybersports.
